1 & 2. Creating Greater Mission Mindset & Outreach Focus /
[tied] Reaching Emanuel’s Inactive Members
§ Finding creative ways to increase an awareness of and support for Emanuel’s for Emanuel’s
mission support of WELS, FVL, Grenada & other opportunities God places before us
§ Training members to reach out to the un-churched of the New London community and Emanuel, share their faith, and invite them to Emanuel
Ø The Board of Outreach has begun establishing neighborhood groups of Emanuel members for small group Bible studies. Two groups have begun.
Ø Look at the map in the narthex to see which Emanuel members live near you.
3. Adult Spiritual Growth
§ Getting a commitment on the part of all our members to commit to growing spiritually
each week – at home and/or church
Ø The Board of Spiritual Growth has established and scheduled winter Bible classes. Pick up a winter Bible class brochure AND pick a Bible study to attend for faith growth.
4. Strengthening Male Leadership in the Home
§ Reaching men and helping them to be spiritual leaders and godly examples in the
home, church and school
Ø All-Pro Dads group meets monthly at Half-Nelsons. Watch for the next date.
5. Strengthening Families, Especially Young Families
Ø The Board of Family Ministry has developed a plan to visit young families with children aged birth to five.
6. Increasing Enrollment in our Lutheran Elementary School
Ø A coordinator, Dean Steingraber, has been selected for this priority.
Ø A committee is being formed to assist Dean. Watch for reports of activities.
7. Getting Emanuel Members Involved in Ministry and Service Opportunities
Ø You don’t have to wait to be asked. What are your interests? What would God have you do?
Ø Small groups are being implemented for priority # 1 (See above.) by the Board of Outreach.
Ø Small groups are planned to be used by the Stewardship Committee in February.
Ø Folks will be needed to assist the Board of Family Ministry (See # 5 above.)
The establishment of the priorities above does not eliminate others which were considered. The Coordinating
Council is attempting to eventually have boards incorporate these into their five-year ministry plans:
Ø Caring for the Elderly Members of Emanuel > Lee Shaw is assisting significantly as a volunteer.
Ø Communication to our Members (about our Vision, Mission, Ministry Information, Parish News)
Ø Enhancing Worship > Grace Hennig arranges inclusion of a variety of choral & instrumental music into regular worship services.
Ø Future Funding of Emanuel Church and School
Ø Raising New and Next-Generation Leaders > “Developing Leaders Around You” – This is a Bible class taught by Pastor Heiges. It was offered in Oct. & Nov. and will be offered again in the winter quarter.
Ø Retaining Youth and “20-Somethings” who Drift from Their Lord
