Opportunities:

You can help create the opportunities we can offer. As a ministry to those in your age group (roughly 18-25), we can offer a variety of things based upon the expressed interest level and willingness of some of you to help lead. Among the things for you to consider are:

  • Co-ed volleyball league
  • Co-ed volleyball tournament (during Christmas break)
  • Bonfire gatherings
  • Monthly Bible studies
  • Or anything else you might want to suggest                     
Ways to get involved in ministry:
  • Assist with landscape & grounds keeping at church
  • Be a greeter at worship services
  • Help out in youth ministry
  • Join a choir, music team, or praise band
  • Lead or coach Emanuel’s school extracurricular and athletic teams
  • Offer to help with special projects as needed
  • Participate on short-term mission trips
  • Serve as an usher
  • Volunteer to help with communion

 

Things to remember to do once you are on your own:

  • Avoid credit cards and debt
  • Build friendships with other Christians & avoid those you know are bad influences
  • Develop & keep a strong work ethic
  • Get health insurance as soon as possible
  • Have renter’s insurance
  • If you mess up today, tomorrow is another chance to get it right
  • Keep in touch with friends & family
  • Keep setting realistic goals for yourself – be it in school or work
  • Keep yourself healthy – not too much junk food, lay off the parties, exercise regularly, & get enough sleep, without oversleeping
  • Live contentedly & within your means
  • Open checking and savings accounts
  • Participate in worship services regularly
  • Pray all the time & about everything
  • Pursue integrity in all you do
  • Read your Bible daily
  • Renew your driver’s license & license plates when due
  • Review & follow the Ten Commandments
  • Show appreciation
  • Take responsibility for your actions
  • Thank those who have helped you along the way

Things to always have handy: 


  • An address book of important contacts
  • Any important medical information
  • Ear plugs if you have a roommate
  • Laundry bag/basket
  • Loose change
  • Photos of family & friends
  • Pre-paid calling card or sell phone
  • Recreation stuff; i.e. Frisbee, football, bike, etc… that can provide good, clean, safe fun by yourself or with friends
  • Roll of duct tape
  • Toothpaste & brush, deodorant, & any medications
  • Your Bible
