Mrs. Thoma's Music Home Page
 What would the world BE without music? For those of you who don't know me, my name is Mrs. Judi Thoma and I teach music to kindergarteners through fourth graders. Why teach music? Is that even important, especially compared to the other classwork children have? Yes, yes, and YES! The foundations taught in music are also used in reading and math. It is a scientific FACT that children who learn music or take music lessons on an instrument have an easier time with their learning in school. And, most importantly, the children are learning to sing and read music. Our Lutheran church was built around music, but that musical heritage is becoming a lost art in our congregations. The book of Psalms is filled with encouragement to praise our loving and gracious God with song, with music!! I want to do whatever I can to bring that love of music back to our families and our church. That starts with our children. Children naturally love to sing and make music - encourage them to do so whenever you can! Can you imagine a world without music - any music? When your child sings a song, join in or ask to learn it. Encourage song in your home and your family. Also, please be very faithful in bringing your children to church when they are scheduled to sing with their class during a service. Actions are greater teachers than words, and bringing them to the service will make a definite impression on the importance of praising God with song. God bless your efforts, and I ask for your prayers as He continues to bless mine. Thank you!
UPCOMING EVENTS

      The children in grades K through 4 are finished singing in church for this school year. However, you can still hear Junior Choir sing two more times - at the 8th grade graduation on Tuesday, May 25th in the commons, and on the very last day of school.
      The members of Junior Choir have been working very hard on a wonderful folk song, "Charlotte Town," which they will be performing for the entire school on the last day, May 28th. I hope you can join us!

"Edutainment" websites for fun at home!

The "edutainment" page is ready to go! Click on the top heading to visit the edutainment page and read about the websites you and your child can visit. These are exciting websites for musical fun and education!

"Come, let us sing for joy to the Lord;
let us shout aloud to the Rock of our
salvation.; Let us come before him
with thanksgiving and extol him with
music and song." Ps. 95:1-2

What's going on in piano/guitar lessons?

      A BIG thank you to all the piano and guitar students who participated in the annual "Spring Fling" recital on Thursday, Apr. 29th. All the students earned "points" to spend on some prizes for themselves or their families. The orders were submitted last Friday evening, and we are expecting the prizes to be here in a week or so.
      Lessons will continue through May 27th, with no lessons on the last day of school.

Summer lessons are available!!!
      Lessons will be held on Tuesdays throughout the summer, beginning on June 8th! A signup sheet is in the office or feel free to call the school. There are many times still available, just waiting for you! I teach piano, guitar, and organ to children AND adults - maybe you and your child can sign up together!!

GUITAR ENSEMBLE

       We are working hard on learning to play "Proud Mary," "The Ainsty Suite," and hopefully, "Hey Jude." And when will you get to hear these selections? on the last day of school! At the rate we're putting the songs together, we'll definitely be ready! If your child is a member of the ensemble, encourage him or her to keep practicing their part. Thank you, parents, for your valuable assistance in making the guitar ensemble a reality. Without your continued support and encouragement, this would be impossible. Plan to join us on the last day of school!
