Back to School?

When I was asked to write a blog for Back To School, I thought, “You're kidding? Already? That means summer is almost over!” It's hard to believe it's that time of year again. As I write this my grandson Weston had his first day at 4K. His parents took a picture of him by a birch tree outside their home. It was deja vu for me. We took pictures of all our children by a birch tree outside our home on the first day of school each year. Pretty soon those pictures were circulating via text messages throughout our family.        MORE.....

Echo.....

As I thought about echoes, I thought about the echo of my life and my faith. Will there be any sound after I am gone? I watched the movie Gladiator again not that long ago, and the main character makes a statement that says “What we do in life echoes in eternity.”  While just a movie quote, this statement is true for our faith lives. It’s all in the cloud today. Data, I mean. Cloud computing has been a buzz word and has earned its credibility in the technology world of late. more...

On the air…

Being on the radio was a new experience for me.  When a local radio station asked if they could broadcast from Emanuel for Lutheran schools week, I was a bit hesitant, but at the same time, I felt it would be a great opportunity to share with the community what Emanuel is all about.

When the day came for the broadcast, I felt well prepared.  The station had told us to prepare some questions ahead of time and the announcer would basically ask those questions.    more...

Be Ready For Jesus Is Coming

December is the time when we prepare to celebrate Jesus’ coming to this earthas the baby in Bethlehem. It is also the time to give attention to Jesus’ coming in glory on the last day. Jesus urges us “To be dressed early for service and to keep our lamps burning, like men waiting for their master to return from a wedding banquet” (Luke 12:35,36). more...
