Sunday School

Welcome to the Sunday school page!

I’m Andy Backus, the Emanuel Sunday School coordinator, and I’d like to tell you a little about our program.
First—if you are on our web site as a visitor or new member, I invite you to check the schedule tab and stop in to visit on any one of our class days. We look forward to meeting you! You may also call our church office if you have any questions.
Sunday school meets most Sundays during the school year. It is open to all children age 4 through 4th grade. Classes run from 9:15-10:15 in the school classrooms. We teach a Bible lesson and apply it with fun craft activities and singing. Specifically, our program is here to assist our public school families as they teach their children to know Jesus and prepare for public school confirmation class in 5th grade. We also have many students who join us while their parents are attending Bible classes.

Ok, those are the quick facts. But what is behind all this?
I’m a dad. On any given day I am probably working too much, acting too busy, or being short with my wife and children instead of showing them perfect love. I try to provide for them all the things they need but it seems hard to keep up. I feel guilty because I know I can’t do it all. Then…I remember something. I can never be the perfect dad giving them stuff or showing perfect love. But I have a God who IS loving and IS caring and IS the perfect provider of what my family needs. He sent his son, Jesus, to be perfect in my place. He took that guilt and erased it when he gave his life for me! He also gives me many physical blessings each day for which I can be thankful!

We all need to hear this good news. We also need encouragement from each other. We gather on Sundays to greet each other and work as a team to tell our children about God’s love. We’re just a part of teaching your child—you have so much more influence as a parent! Our goal is to assist you and offer resources and fellowship with other Christians going through this life on our way to ETERNAL LIFE!

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16
