“Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, 2 fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.” Hebrews 12:1-2
It’s all in the cloud today. Data, I mean. Cloud computing has been a buzz word and has earned its credibility in the technology.
Flashback to the days in which the master teacher was instructing his disciples before he would be taken up in a cloud before their very eyes and return to his Father. Jesus taught them to log in to the heavenly kingdom even while here on earth. Keep one eye fixed on the heavenly prize at all times. Why? One word – encouragement.
Do we ever feel that same need as we travel this worldly and sin-filled path? Yes. We need to be reminded that we can enjoy our heavenly spirituality even while traveling through this vale of tears. We are connected to God and enjoy the connection of other believers in communion with us as we encourage one another in the faith. Our presence in worship or a kind word does that for people.
Living in the cloud can help us keep our eyes fixed on Jesus and realize that our problems here are temporary and fleeting. Better days stretch ahead.
There is joy when we live in the cloud, even when rain sometimes falls close to us all. Encourage one another when given the opportunity and remind each other that one day, “ We will be with the Lord forever.” IThess.4:16
